One of the biggest global mobility events has come to a close, but in case you were unable to attend, we debuted our in-vehicle demo! And it didn’t just arrive at the booth at MOVE in London…
Our CEO and Co-founder, Fabrizio Martini, and Senior Technical Solutions Architect, Pietro Mosca, embarked on a 2-week journey from Turin to Paris to London to join the global mobility event and park the Fiat safely in our booth on the MOVE floor.
This was not just any drive; it was a cross-continent road trip showcasing Electra’s EVE-Ai Range Expert Product installed in our Fiat 500e, wrapped in Electra branding with sponsors from across our network of investors and business partners.
The Journey and Data Collection
Using custom hardware installed in the Fiat 500e, we collected an incredible amount of valuable data over the 1200 km journey. Our in-vehicle edge solution continuously processed vehicle sensor data and insights from traffic data partners along the route to forecast the remaining energy at the end of the drive. Our cloud connectivity allowed us to log these insights in our databases during the drive and retrain between trips, improving model performance and adapting to new conditions for a more robust estimate of the target energy at destination and EV range.
Personalized and Precise Estimations
Our AI solution learned Fabrizio’s specific driving style and response to different road conditions to build a personalized range estimate, outperforming estimates from other providers by 11% on some drives at the end of our test.
Addressing Range Anxiety and Charging Infrastructure Concerns
Range anxiety and charging infrastructure concerns remain the two biggest blockers to EV adoption in many regions, particularly the US market. By building driver confidence in their vehicle’s ability to reach its destination or identify early on that charging may be needed mid-route, our product can enable OEMs to expand their market share to customers who have the means to buy EVs but don’t trust their usability—yet.
Enhancing Battery Life and User Experience
From a battery degradation perspective, minimizing mid-trip fast charge instances is crucial to prolonging battery life. Not every drive needs a fast-charge pitstop along the way to reach the destination. Our product can improve the performance of the vehicle battery while helping consumers make the most informed decisions for better drives in their EVs, with less fear about reaching the destination.
Maximize Fleet Efficiency with Real-Time Data
Expand your operational capabilities to a full fleet and oversee all activities for each vehicle in aggregation, allowing you to easily track both overall fleet and individual vehicle status. Fleet managers can compare vehicles using clear visualizations provided through real-time data collection including driving, battery, and environmental data from the fleet. Coupled with cloud-based prediction and interactive data analytics and visualization, managers can make more informed decisions that enhance efficiency and productivity. Additionally, Electra’s software informs fleet managers about the need for preventative maintenance on vehicles, a crucial and highly valuable feature since the battery makes up one-third of the vehicle’s cost. This proactive approach ensures the longevity and reliability of your fleet, ultimately saving on significant repair and replacement expenses.
